CASE STUDIES

Measured jobs. Real numbers.

Anyone can claim their designs are better. These are the actual figures — measured heat loss, chosen flow temperature, which radiators stayed and which had to go — set against what the competing quotes said.

FEATURED

A 1930s semi in Wakefield, designed properly

Three installers quoted. Three different heat losses, three different heat pump sizes, one confused homeowner. We measured the house room by room and the answer was smaller than all three.

MEASURED HEAT LOSS

6.8 kW

Against quoted sizes of 8.5, 11 and 12 kW. Oversizing costs money twice — once to buy, then every day to run.

DESIGN FLOW TEMPERATURE

45 °C

Low enough for a strong seasonal efficiency, high enough to keep most of the existing emitters.

RADIATORS RETAINED

7 of 10

Three needed upsizing. The other seven were already big enough once the real room losses were known.

WHAT EVERY CASE STUDY SHOWS

The numbers, not the narrative

We publish the same things every time, because those are the things that decide whether a system works.

Measured heat loss

Room by room, at the design outside temperature for that postcode — not a floor-area rule of thumb.

Flow temperature and emitters

The chosen flow temperature, and exactly which radiators that decision allowed us to keep.

How the quotes compared

What the installers proposed, what we measured, and where the difference actually came from.
