FOR HEAT PUMP INSTALLERS · THE REMOTE DESIGN PROGRAMME
Outsourced heat loss calculations and heat pump design, issued in your name.
The Remote Design Programme gives heat pump installers a design office without the overhead. You survey the property. We produce the outsourced heat loss calculations, emitter schedules, system design and installer documents behind it — worked to MCS standards in Spruce or Heat Engineer, and issued under your own business name.
HOW IT WORKS
Four steps from enquiry to your first design
01
TODAY · 5 MINUTES
Tell us how you work
The form asks how you survey, which software you use, and which part of the process is eating your evenings. Five minutes, and nothing is committed by sending it.
02
WITHIN A COUPLE OF WORKING DAYS
We check the fit honestly
A real conversation about your workload and your existing design process — and a straight answer about whether outsourcing suits the way you already work. Sometimes it does not, and we will say so.
03
ONBOARDING
We agree scope and handover
We show you what a survey handover looks like, agree which parts of the design you want covered, and fix the formats and templates so nothing is measured twice or re-keyed by hand.
04
YOUR FIRST PROJECT
You submit, we design
Send the survey. Back come room-by-room heat loss calculations, emitter schedules and the system design documents your customer and your MCS paperwork both need.
WHY WE BUILT THIS
“Every installer I speak to is doing calculations at ten o’clock at night, after a full day on the tools. That is exactly when a U-value gets guessed and a radiator gets undersized. Design is not admin you squeeze into the evening — it is the part of the job that decides whether the system works. So we took it off their desk, and left the installing to the people who are good at it.”

Write to us directly at hello@heatlosshub.co.uk — the same designer reads it either way. Attach a sample survey or an existing calculation if you would like it looked over.

WHAT YOU CAN OUTSOURCE
Outsourced heat loss calculations, or the whole design
Most installers start with outsourced heat loss calculations and add services as trust builds. You are never obliged to take the full package.
HEAT LOSS
Room-by-room calculations
Outsourced heat loss calculations worked room by room to BS EN 12831 and MCS 3005, built from your survey data in Spruce or Heat Engineer — with every fabric assumption written down rather than guessed.
EMITTERS
Radiator assessment and upgrade design
Which existing radiators hold up at your design flow temperature, which need changing, and exactly what to change them to — including designer and low-surface-temperature options where the customer cares how it looks.
UNDERFLOOR
Underfloor heating design
Pipe spacing, circuit lengths, manifold layout and floor build-up, checked against each room’s actual heat loss rather than a rule of thumb applied across the whole ground floor.
SYSTEM
Full heat pump system design
Heat pump selection, cylinder sizing, the buffer-or-volumiser decision, pipework sizing and system schematics — the whole hydraulic picture, defensible line by line.
ELECTRICAL & DNO
Electrical design and DNO applications
Supply capacity checks, circuit design, and the DNO notification or application paperwork prepared for you — so the connection question is answered long before the van is loaded.
DOCUMENTS
Installer packs and quality control
Materials lists, installer packs and independent quality control on completed designs — including a second opinion on work your own team has produced in-house.
WHO IT IS FOR
Built around how installers actually work
ESTABLISHED INSTALLERS
You are turning work away
The installs are booked out but the design queue is the bottleneck. Outsourced heat loss calculations let you quote more projects without hiring a designer or dropping your standards to keep up.
NEW TO HEAT PUMPS
You want the numbers checked
You can do the survey — you would just rather someone experienced stood behind the sizing on your first dozen jobs. We design alongside you and explain the reasoning, so you learn the process rather than outsourcing it forever.
MOVING ACROSS
You have the trade, not the hours
A busy gas and oil business adding heat pumps has the plumbing skill and the customer base, but no spare evenings to learn design software. We supply the design office while you build the heat pump side of the business.

Every design lands as a room-by-room figure, not a whole-house guess — which is what makes the emitter schedule defensible.
BEFORE YOU ENQUIRE
Quick answers
More on the underlying method in our heat loss calculations service and our full independent design service.
Yours. Everything produced under the Remote Design Programme is white-labelled to your business — your logo, your document templates, your customer relationship. We are your design office, not a competitor sitting behind your quote.
Both. If you already work in one, we design in the same package so the file lands in your account ready to edit. If you use neither, we will recommend one — we design our own projects in Spruce and explain why on the blog.
No. We work with certified installers, businesses with an application in progress, installers operating under someone else’s certification, and companies that have not started the process yet. Calculations are produced to MCS standards regardless, so the paperwork stands up whenever you do apply. Scheme details are on the MCS website.
Room dimensions, construction notes, window and door details, existing emitter sizes and a few photographs. A sketch or an architect’s drawing helps but is not essential. We send you a survey template during onboarding so nothing is missed on site and nothing needs a second visit.
No. Some installers send one project a quarter and some send ten a month. The enquiry form asks about volume so we can plan capacity honestly — not to hold you to a number.
It depends on property size and how much of the design you want covered, so we price after the first conversation — clearly, in writing, per project or as an agreed monthly arrangement. What we can say now: the enquiry and the call cost nothing, and there are no surprises after them.
READY WHEN YOU ARE
Get your evenings back, without lowering the standard
Tell us how you work and we will tell you honestly whether the Remote Design Programme fits. No obligation, and no sales call unless you ask for one.
