Samsung EHS Quint: Can One Heat Pump Provide Heating, Hot Water and Air Conditioning?
Traditionally, homeowners wanting low-carbon central heating, domestic hot water and effective summer cooling have needed two separate systems: an air-to-water heat pump for heating and hot water, plus a separate air-conditioning system for cooling.

The Samsung EHS Quint is designed to bring those functions together.
At its core, it is an air-to-water heat pump capable of supplying radiators, underfloor heating, fan convectors and a hot-water cylinder. What makes it different is the addition of refrigerant connections that can serve compatible Samsung air-conditioning indoor units.
In principle, one outdoor system can therefore provide:
- Wet central heating
- Domestic hot water
- Dedicated air-to-air heating and cooling
- Potential heat recovery when cooling and producing hot water
Samsung displayed the EHS Quint at InstallerSHOW at Birmingham’s NEC, where its integrated approach immediately stood out. For homeowners already considering both a heat pump and air conditioning, it could remove the need to choose between two separate outdoor systems.
The concept is extremely promising. However, UK product availability, final technical combinations, MCS certification, pricing and Boiler Upgrade Scheme treatment must all be confirmed before the system is presented as a grant-funded option.

Why the Samsung EHS Quint Caught My Attention
I have worked in the heating industry for around 18 years and now professionally design heat-pump systems. I also designed and installed the air-source heat-pump system in my own home.
My home is heated through radiators designed around a 50°C flow temperature at a winter design condition of -3°C. In practice, I run the system long and low, maintaining a steady indoor temperature rather than allowing the property to cool and asking the heat pump to recover quickly.
The heat pump itself includes a cooling function, but I would not use chilled water through my existing radiator circuit. The visible primary pipework is insulated, but much of the internal heating pipework is concealed within ceilings and walls and was never designed to carry water below the indoor dew point. Condensation on that pipework could cause damage long before damp patches or loose plaster became visible.
Instead, I installed dedicated air conditioning in the habitable rooms of my home. In summer, it provides effective cooling and dehumidification throughout the house. In winter, I can reduce the background temperature of the wet heating system and use the air-to-air units for a quick, targeted evening boost.
That real-world experience is why the EHS Quint immediately caught my attention. It appears to combine the comfort and versatility of dedicated air conditioning with the central-heating and hot-water functions expected from an air-to-water heat pump.
What Is the Samsung EHS Quint?
In homeowner-friendly terms, the EHS Quint is an air-to-water heat pump with an important additional feature: compatible indoor air-conditioning units can connect to the same outdoor refrigeration system.
From the outside, it resembles Samsung’s modern anthracite heat-pump range. On the water side, it operates like a conventional heat pump, supplying warm water to radiators, underfloor heating or fan convectors and heating a domestic hot-water cylinder.
Unlike a standard monobloc air-to-water heat pump, it also incorporates dedicated refrigerant connections for air-conditioning indoor units. Those indoor units can provide warm-air heating, cooling and dehumidification directly within selected rooms.
Samsung’s European partner materials now reference an EHS Quint technical data resource, but public UK specifications remain limited. Exact capacities, approved indoor-unit combinations and installation requirements should therefore be taken from the final UK technical documentation when released.
Why Is the Samsung EHS Quint Different From a Traditional Heat Pump?
A traditional air-to-water heat pump normally provides central heating and domestic hot water. Some reversible models can also produce chilled water for cooling, but the complete distribution system must be designed for that purpose.
The EHS Quint adds dedicated air-to-air cooling. Instead of sending chilled water through radiators or underfloor heating, refrigerant travels through insulated copper pipework to purpose-built indoor fan units.
That distinction matters. Air-conditioning refrigerant pipework is continuously insulated with a closed-cell vapour barrier designed to prevent condensation. The indoor unit includes a cold heat exchanger, fan, filters, condensate tray and drainage system specifically intended for cooling and dehumidification.
This allows the system to deliver the strong air movement, temperature reduction and moisture removal people associate with proper air conditioning.
Can't a Normal Air-Source Heat Pump Already Cool My House?
Some can, but being capable of producing chilled water is not the same as the house being designed to use it safely and effectively.
Underfloor cooling
Underfloor systems can provide gentle cooling when the floor construction, controls and floor coverings are suitable. The water temperature must remain above the dew point to prevent condensation. Output is limited, and unsuitable floor finishes can reduce performance further.
Radiators
Conventional radiators have limited cooling output and can collect condensation if their surface temperature drops below the room’s dew point. Pipework concealed in walls, floors and ceilings may also sweat if it is not properly vapour-sealed.
Fan-coil units
Fan coils can provide effective chilled-water cooling because they are designed with fans, condensate trays and drainage. However, they must be specified and installed as part of the original system design.
Controls and dew-point management
Cooling requires controls capable of managing changeover, humidity, dew point, pumps, valves and condensate risk. Standard heating thermostats and many third-party underfloor-heating controls are not designed for this.

How Does the Samsung EHS Quint Provide Air Conditioning?
The EHS Quint uses dedicated refrigerant connections to serve compatible indoor units. Depending on Samsung’s final UK combination tables, these may include high-wall units and concealed ducted indoor units, with other formats potentially available.
Each indoor unit operates as a proper air-conditioning terminal. It can move air through the room, reduce temperature, remove moisture and maintain a separate room set point.
This provides genuine zoning. Bedrooms can be cooled overnight while unused rooms remain off, and living areas can be conditioned only when occupied.
Final statements about the number, model and capacity of indoor units should be based on Samsung’s published UK design software and technical data once available.
Can the Samsung EHS Quint Heat and Cool at the Same Time?
Samsung presents the EHS Quint as a multi-function system capable of serving water heating and air-conditioning demands, including heat-recovery operation.
One of the most useful practical examples is domestic hot-water production while indoor units are cooling the home. A standard air conditioner rejects heat outdoors. A heat-recovery system can potentially redirect some of the heat removed from the rooms into the hot-water circuit instead.
This could be particularly valuable during summer, when cooling demand and domestic hot-water demand occur at the same time.
Simultaneous heating in one occupied room and cooling in another may technically be possible depending on the final system architecture and controls, although it is likely to be a less common domestic requirement. Exact operating modes and limitations should be confirmed from Samsung’s final technical documentation.
Can the Samsung EHS Quint Provide Hot Water?
Yes. On the water side, the system is intended to heat a domestic hot-water cylinder in the same way as a conventional air-to-water heat pump.
This is a major difference when comparing the Quint with a standard whole-house air-to-air system. A conventional air-to-air heat pump usually needs a separate hot-water solution, such as an immersion-heated cylinder or dedicated heat-pump water heater.
During cooling operation, heat recovery may allow energy removed from the home to contribute to domestic hot-water production rather than being rejected entirely to the outdoor air. The exact control sequence and performance will need to be confirmed from Samsung’s final data.
Can I Use My Existing Radiators With the Samsung EHS Quint?
Potentially, but suitability depends on the complete heating design.
A room-by-room heat-loss calculation is needed to establish the output required from each radiator at the proposed flow temperature. The designer must also assess pipe sizes, system volume, circulation, water quality, controls and the condition of the existing heating system.
Existing radiators do not automatically need to be replaced simply because a heat pump is installed. Equally, the fact that a radiator becomes warm does not prove that the system will meet the room’s heat loss efficiently on the coldest day.
Just because something will work does not mean it has been designed to work efficiently.
Can the Samsung EHS Quint Work With Underfloor Heating?
Yes. Underfloor heating is well suited to heat pumps because it can provide the required room output at relatively low water temperatures when correctly designed.
The design should consider heat loss, pipe spacing, floor construction, floor covering, water temperature, circuit lengths, flow rates and controls. Where radiators and underfloor heating operate at different temperatures, the complete hydraulic and control strategy must be considered.
The heat pump and underfloor-heating system should be designed as one complete heating system, not as separate products that are expected to work together after installation.

How Many Air-Conditioning Units Can Be Connected?
Samsung has not yet published enough easily accessible UK information for this guide to state a definitive number.
The answer will depend on the selected Quint capacity, the approved indoor-unit combinations, total connected capacity, individual refrigerant pipe lengths, total system pipe length, height differences and the simultaneous heating and cooling requirements.
The maximum number of indoor units is not necessarily the correct number for a property. A full cooling-load and heating-load assessment is still required, and the indoor-unit positions must be practical and comfortable.
Could the Samsung EHS Quint Replace a Heat Pump and Separate Air-Conditioning System?
For the right project, that is the product’s greatest potential.
A conventional approach might involve one outdoor air-to-water heat pump for radiators, underfloor heating and hot water, plus one or more separate air-conditioning outdoor units.
The Quint could potentially reduce the number of outdoor systems while providing:
- Wet central heating
- Domestic hot water
- Dedicated room cooling and dehumidification
- Warm-air boost heating
- Integrated operation and possible heat recovery
The concept may also allow the air-conditioning part of the system to be installed at the same time as the heat pump or added later, subject to the equipment, pipework provision and manufacturer requirements.
Potential limitations include higher design complexity, the need for installers competent in both hydronic heat pumps and refrigeration systems, product availability, final pricing, approved combinations and the consequences of relying on one outdoor system for several services.
Some homeowners may still prefer separate systems because they offer greater independence, a wider choice of manufacturers and resilience if one system develops a fault.
Is the Samsung EHS Quint MCS Certified?

We have not found a publicly confirmed UK MCS Product Directory listing for the Samsung EHS Quint under that product name. Samsung’s European partner portal references an EHS Quint technical data resource, but that does not by itself confirm UK MCS certification.
MCS certification matters because a qualifying Boiler Upgrade Scheme installation must use eligible equipment and be completed by an appropriately certified installer.
This page should be updated as soon as a confirmed UK product listing, model number or certification announcement becomes available.
Is the Samsung EHS Quint Eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
There is currently no confirmed basis for stating that the EHS Quint is eligible for a BUS voucher.
The product creates an interesting classification question because it combines air-to-water heating and hot-water production with dedicated air-to-air cooling.
The likely commercial route would be for the system’s air-to-water function to provide the property’s full wet central-heating and domestic hot-water requirements, with the air-conditioning section treated as an additional benefit. However, that is an informed expectation rather than an official decision.
MCS product certification and Boiler Upgrade Scheme eligibility are related but not identical. A product appearing in an MCS directory does not automatically prove that every proposed configuration qualifies for a grant. The final installation, technology category and scheme rules all matter.
Could You Get £7,500 or £9,000 Towards the Samsung EHS Quint?
The standard BUS grant for an eligible air-to-water heat pump is £7,500. From 21 July 2026 until 31 March 2027, eligible off-gas-grid properties replacing oil or LPG with an air-to-water or ground-source heat pump can receive £9,000.
The grant for an eligible air-to-air heat pump remains £2,500.
If the Quint is eventually accepted as an eligible air-to-water system and the installation meets the complete BUS requirements, the larger air-to-water grant could be commercially significant. That must not be promised until the exact product and installation route are confirmed.

How Much Will the Samsung EHS Quint Cost?
Official UK pricing is not yet available publicly enough to provide a reliable figure, and guessing would be misleading.
The outdoor unit is only one part of the installed cost. A complete quotation may include:
- Heat-pump capacity and controls
- Hot-water cylinder and associated plumbing
- Radiator upgrades or underfloor-heating work
- The number and type of air-conditioning indoor units
- Refrigerant and water pipework
- Electrical supplies and controls
- Condensate drainage
- System design, commissioning and certification

A product price and a complete installed-system price are very different things. The relevant comparison will be the total Quint installation against the combined cost of a conventional heat pump and separate air-conditioning system.
When Will the Samsung EHS Quint Be Available in the UK?
Samsung has demonstrated the concept in the UK market and has a European technical data resource for the product, but we have not found a confirmed public UK on-sale date.
Availability is likely to depend on final product approvals, technical documentation, installer training, distribution, design software, MCS certification and any BUS clarification.
Homeowners should be wary of accepting firm installation promises until a supplier can identify the exact UK model, provide current technical literature and confirm ordering availability.
Who Is the Samsung EHS Quint Likely to Suit?
The system could be particularly relevant to:
- Homeowners replacing gas, oil or LPG boilers
- People already considering an air-to-water heat pump
- Homes that also need effective summer cooling
- New builds and major renovations
- Properties using radiators, underfloor heating or both
- Projects where reducing the number of outdoor units is desirable

Who Might Be Better With Separate Systems?
Separate systems may remain the better solution for:

System selection should follow the property design and the homeowner’s priorities, not the novelty of the equipment.
Should I Wait for the Samsung EHS Quint?
That depends on the urgency of the project.
Waiting may make sense if you are already planning both a full heat-pump installation and extensive air conditioning, your current heating system remains serviceable and you are comfortable waiting for confirmed UK pricing, certification and availability.
Proceeding with current technology may be more sensible if your boiler has failed, the installation is time-critical, you only need cooling in one or two rooms or the uncertainty around grants and launch dates is unacceptable.
A conventional air-to-water heat pump and a separate multi-split air-conditioning system are both established solutions today. The Quint’s attraction is integration, not that existing technology cannot provide the same end result.
Our View of the Samsung EHS Quint
From a heating-system design perspective, the Samsung EHS Quint is one of the most interesting products to appear in recent years.
It addresses a genuine gap. Many homeowners want low-carbon central heating and domestic hot water but also want proper summer cooling. Traditional heat pumps can sometimes provide chilled water, yet most UK radiator and underfloor-heating systems were never designed for cooling.
Dedicated air conditioning solves the comfort problem, but normally requires additional outdoor equipment and a separate installation.
The Quint could combine these services in a more elegant way while using heat recovery during suitable operating conditions.
The outstanding questions are equally important:
- Confirmed UK model range and capacities
- Approved indoor-unit combinations
- MCS certification
- Boiler Upgrade Scheme treatment
- UK launch date and pricing
- Installer training and availability
